Our optical boutique offers a thoughtfully curated space designed to provide our clients with diverse options and quality hand-crafted, independent eyewear. We are currently seeking a dedicated Licensed Optician to join our dynamic team of high-energy individuals in delivering compassion and excellence to each individualized patient experience. As part of our team, you will fill an integral role, utilizing your optical acumen to further enhance our thriving Optical department.

What you can expect to do in this role:

  • Assist and educate patients with selection of frames, lenses, and lens enhancements based on doctor recommendations, patient’s prescription, and specific lifestyle needs

  • Connect and build strong rapport with patients

  • Process eyeglass orders, which includes pricing, measuring, filing vision plan insurance, and documenting patient charts

  • Control lab inventory through auditing tray management procedures, special orders, check-in, inspection and verification of lenses, monitoring of damaged and defective product, returns, scheduling of dispense appointments, and dispensing of glasses

  • Repair and adjust eyeglasses, while ensuring patient satisfaction

  • Operate specialized equipment to include lensometer, edging equipment, etc.

  • Assist with inventory of eyeglass frames, accessories, and tools

  • Secondarily, as needed, may provide office support by answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and checking patients in for appointments

  • This job description is meant to be a guideline for coordinating daily activities; other duties will be performed as assigned

  • Attend continuing education courses to keep informed of new technology and advances in the optical industry

  • Must attain and remain current with State Optician’s Licensure requirements; and BluTech, OSHA & HIPAA certifications

Job Type: Full-time (Monday–Friday, no nights or weekends)

Ability to commute/relocate: Weaverville, NC 28787: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education: High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Retail or Customer Service: 1 year (Required)

  • Optical Dispensing: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Luxury Sales: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Medical Insurance Verification: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification: NC Opticians License or ABO Certification (Preferred)
