JASON KIRK Hosts Series Of Special Podcasts For SILMO

Co-founder of iconic British eyewear designers KIRK & KIRK is hosting a series of special podcasts by Silmo.

Jason Kirk, CEO of Kirk & Kirk, is hosting the podcasts called The Right Optics by Silmo, featuring industry figures, some optical and others from outside of optics.

Silmo is the leading international optical trade show and it takes place in Paris from 23rd – 26th September at Villepinte and the podcasts are broadcasting now.

The interviews with Nada Vuksic, Daniel Feldman, Peter Cross, Louis Fullagar and Lorna Robinson were designed to be warm and personal as well as offering some inspiring professional tips.

The first interview is with Nada Vuksic of Bruce Eyewear in Vancouver, a hugely respected optical retailer who, having built up her business over 20+ years, has recently suffered a fire that destroyed her main store. The conversation is informative and emotional.

Jason also interviewed Daniel Feldman, Executive Editor at The Optical Journal who shares his enormous experience of marketing and communication from both within and outside of optics.

Peter Cross was Customer Experience Director at John Lewis and Waitrose before leaving to pursue a career in consulting on retail and consumer behaviour. Having worked with Mary Portas at Yellow Door, Peter shares some valuable insight into the way that consumers shop and what we might expect the next six to twelve months to hold.

Louis Fullagar is an industry legend having left his optical business in Australia to work in retail and repping in the US before becoming founder of Luxury Eyewear Forum and guiding the optical world on best practice in social media through his media/marketing agency, Spexaddict. Louis talks about his world and shares some interesting learnings from before his time in eyewear.

Jason also spoke with Lorna Robinson, Head Buyer at The Hakim Group about her experience across different parts of the eyewear world and what a buyer is looking for in their relationship with suppliers.

Jason Kirk said: “It is a an honour for me to be the voice of Silmo in hosting these podcasts. I’ve really enjoyed putting them together and learnt loads. Silmo has a pivotal role to play in our industry and several recurring themes in the podcasts really bring this home; community, relationships, human contact.”

About Jason

Jason Kirk grew up surrounded by optics. He runs the business side of Kirk & Kirk, regularly visiting their factory in France for in-person quality checks where the frames are hand made. Karen Kirk studied design in London, and was working for Saatchi & Saatchi when she turned to optics.

Motivated by their family legacy and a burning desire to bring excitement to optics, Jason and Karen started Kirk & Kirk as a line to innovate and inspire. It was an immediate success, with their frames now sold in 40 countries and are ever-present on the red carpet. Their designs have won awards and plaudits across the profession and the media. Kirk & Kirk represents the legacy of more than a century of history in optics, while keeping an eye on the future and possibilities waiting to be imagined.

At its core, Kirk & Kirk is a business run by a family with optical passion coursing through their veins and integrity and pride in every frame they produce.
